Adorable Seahorses Feeding -Video


We don’t often get a chance to see this in the wild and definitely not in the detail as shown in this high definition HD video.

Watch how the seahorses spot their food, and then quickly positions their fused jaws and sucks the food in. At this level of detail, you can see that they excrete something like smoke from where I guess the gills are. See the official description below for more details.

It’s fascinating. I can watch this for hours.

Seahorses are syngnathids—meaning “fused jaw.” Instead of gulping their food, they attack it with a sudden slurping strike.

Note: The “smoke” snorted from the back of the seahorse’s head isn’t a sign it’s transforming into a sea dragon—it’s a plume of oils and food bits exiting through the gill flap as the seahorse breathes out.
